If I were in your position I would’ve returned the laptop immediately if it didn’t work from new. Perhaps explaining what the problems are here will give you some new insights into the fixes.

While off disconnect from the power supply, remove the battery & the CMOS battery & long press the power button to discharge any excess power then leave it for 5 minutes then return the batteries & plug the laptop back in & see if that improves things.

The most obvious question is to check whether the PC is still connected to the power supply & than the socket is switched on. If you remove the battery & just use the laptop plugged in does the it start? If not then the power brick may have failed; if it does then the battery may have failed.

If you check under the touchpad entry within settings is there any option to disable the touchpad when a mouse is connected?

What I did was create an image using Macrium onto an external drive, swapped the old boot drive with the ssd, booted with Macrium’s boot usb & recovered the image to the new drive. I’ve read too many stories of cloned drives not booting.

Glad the problem has been resolved. The last BIOS I flashed was for a HP running Vista.

Try booting from the Macrium Recovery USB again & choosing to repair boot files.

The message suggests the BIOS is being/has been flashed but has failed. However if no one has had access to the PC then this cannot be the case as a BIOS update doesn’t happen itself.

Which email client are you using? Outlook.com or the Outlook email client which is part of Office? Are you using any third party adblocker, antivirus &/or firewall or VPN software? Have you tried setting up the account using imap rather than pop? imap.virginmedia.com SSL yes Port 993...

If you click on the green light/top left hand corner does this turn the touchpad on? What about clicking one of the other corners?

If that is your Windows key which you’ve posted under OS then please remove it. When did you last clean out the dust from the fans? Is the PC fully up to date with Windows updates & driver updates? Have you scanned the PC for malware using MalwareBytes free & AdwCleaner?
