Icue not changing fan speed randomly

Just had a issue with icue was rendering a video and the case fans increased rpm which is normal but then when I looked in icue and changed the speed to menu to extreme for example nothing changed and all the numbers were locked

The cpu fans were fine and still responded to the changes I made in icue once I ended the icue task and restarted it they instantly responded

Is this a know issue with icue at times heard its a bit weird and was wondering if anyone else experiences this

So it sounds like the icue service had crashed which is why it didn’t start working until you exited icue and restarted it. This does happen time to time.

But also, depends if you’ve got other rgb controllers installed like armory crate as they can lock the rgb controller.

Yeah I only have icue installed I believe but if you think it's just icue being funny then that's fine and did have another issue with this pc but do I need to make a new thread as its not the same issue ?

Ok sorry for the long post but want to provide as much information as I can

When I got home from work booted the pc up it posted fine then when I got into the windows log in screen it took way longer than usual to log in then when it did I saw all my desktop icons but no task bar then a screen started to load like the ones you see when you first set up windows but all boxes blank with a loading circle for a few seconds then the desktop shows

2 updates were available for windows so they were installed then restated the pc as it said to complete the installation of them

Then next time I restarted the pc it was stuck on "updates are underway" no progress % was shown and I would not move from that had to shutdown the pc myself on the power button then it started fine

Managed to do Dism restore health after check health found "store corruption" it fixed it and since then its not happend again

Was this corruption likely the reason for the issue just wanted to see if anyone technical has any thoughts

The OOBE (out of box experience) that the pc comes in when you receive it is not perfect, it’s known to be quite problematic with new windows setups.

A dism goes through and essentially reinstalls all the main components.

It’s likely the OOBE setup wasn’t smooth.

The pc had been back with them due to a issue but they didn't reinstall windows during the rma but when I got it before it wasn't activated

So do you mean it was a dodgy install and the dism has fixed it ?

Possibly. No way to know. The only way to be sure is always clean install on any new pc.

There's only a need to update the BIOS if a new version has a feature you require or addresses a specific security concern. Other than that, there is never a need to update the BIOS.

Also, if you update the BIOS without PCS approval, you'll void the warranty, so be sure to check with them before updating it.

Ah ok that's good to hear

So seems just keep using the pc and if I get any other weird crashes then do a full reinstall

Just a question as I'm curious why do pcs not want you to install bios updates without them saying so ?

Because incorrectly flashing a BIOS can fully brick the PC if you don't know what you're doing.

PCS have to accommodate every level of user, a lot of them just have no clue how these things work, so they have to come from a safety perspective that protects everyone.

Beta BIOSes can cause lots of issues, and prevent flashing newer BIOSes without advanced methods.

And 9 times out of 10, there's no reason to reflash a BIOS anyway.

I see thanks

When I was looking through event viewer to see what if anything caused the slow log in I did see a error called "volsnap" the timing did not seem to be when the pc froze or anything and error only showed once is it something I need to be worried about ?

I think you're rather creating panic rather than having any due cause.

There will always be errors in event viewer, that's entirely normal.

I don't think there was anything significant wrong with anything, just a little windows corruption. It's fairly routine.

This is how the aio pump sounds like new to these hearing a buzz which seems normal but feel like there is other noises that maybe are not right

Was wondering if anyone more experienced can have a listen and see what they think

I appreciate all the help guys means a lot
