Im wondering if the reason daz 3d is having problems is that for some reason win 7 is reporting that my drivers have stopped working.

I never had a problem with nivida card drivers but it seems that my 5970 doesnt like the ati drivers that ive installed. I had a problem with the 10.6 drivers, ive just updated to the 10.7 and now games are choppy. Anyone else experience this or know why this is happening?

remove all ATI drivers selecting the delete drivers tickbox when uninstalling the device from device manager. This is after you have removed all ATI and catalyst software. When thats done reinstall the latest drivers.

Been using Ati for years, i might be able to help you here.

This is the driver protocol i go through, whether its necessary or not I'm not totally sure, but it ensures i never have driver problems.

Firstly, you will need two programs. Driver sweeper, and Driver cleaner. They can be downloaded from the following locations.

Once both these are downloaded, install them. Uninstall Ati download manager completely, also use the express option.

Restart your computer, at post keep pressing f8 until it lets you boot into safe mode.

Boot into safe mode for windows, then run driver sweeper, select ati, analyse, then clean all entries found.

Rinse and repeat for Driver cleaner pro. You will need to select all ati entries in the drop down box then clean.

Once all is cleaned, restart your pc normally.

Get back to windows and install the 10.7 drivers using express install option.

Restart windows. Then install these game specific profile ati drivers, the latest version available.

No need to restart any further, you're good to go.

Thanks for the advice, your going to think this is really strange but i cant get into safe mode. When pressing f8 in start up i get a screen asking me which drive i want to boot from and when selecting my c drive it just starts windows normally, any suggestions?

After selecting your c drive start pressing the F8 key and you should get the safe mode option.

Hope that helps

you have to select your c drive then as soon as you have pressed enter on it batter f8 again, that will do it :)

Worked a treat thanks :) games are running choppy now and windows seems fine with the new install, now that i have a ati i guess im going to have to get use to things being a bit different. BTW just for the record the reason ive switched from nvidia to ati is because ive had 4 out of the last 6 cards die on me within 12 months (not the same 12 months but over a number of years). None of which were over clocked (i dont do that) and although the pc has been on nearly every day i kinda expect a graphics card to last a bit longer then that.

I havent tried daz to see if that works tonight as im very tired, i have a feeling the reason that wont run is more serious then just a graphics card driver problem but will try it tomorrow, but glad everything else is working fine :) Thanks again for your help guys

Glad my advice helped dude.

Did you mean to say games run choppy now?

If so ill have a look around and see if i can find you a better driver tomorrow, could be a buggy driver as that card should not be running choppy.

No games are flying now thanks :) and no reports from win 7, ive been having a problem with daz 3d rendering program, im unable to run it on my system for some reason when i load it, it reboots my pc :( very odd thing to happen theres a chance the new drivers will help but i think it doesnt like some of my hardware, i havent tried it since the drivers have been fixed and ive been told it shouldnt reboot my pc even if it crashes which is concerning, just hope i can get it fixed but at least games are flying now, ive got an old pc i could run daz on but seems silly considering how much better this one is

Hmm interesting, not conclusive but a positive hope anyway......what am i talking about :) well daz 3d managed a full hour nearly without any problems, maybe it is due to the drivers or maybe its because i turned of kaspersky while installing it and running it. Kaspersky did come up with several warning while installing or loading content within daz, its possible it prevents something running and hence cause my system to reboot after a short time.

Im not saying the problem is fixed, but it looks promising, i will give it some tough testing this week and fingers crossed it works.

Well after spending all evening on daz 3d im 90% sure that daz wont have any problems, the only thing i havent determinded so far is what caused my pc to reboot while running it. Was it dodgy installed graphics drivers for my ati card or is it kaspersky causing the problems. Tomorrow im going to run it with kaspersky on and see what happens, i really hope its the drivers though :) but at least one way or another i should be fine from now onwards, when ive narrowed the prob down i will post the result :)
