I used Uniblue Registry Booster ion the PC I've just replaced.
It is shown as compatible with Windows 7.
Please give me your experience/comments/advice on whether to use it on my new PCS PC. Thanks.

Funny, thats what I saw an advert for yesterday, you know, the usual con adverts at the top of download pages. Most of the time it doesnt do much, i'd recommend CCleaner, if you want to do any cleaning. But even then you need to triple check what youre cleaning, and make a backup of registry when it says do you want to make a backup.

I would advise all our customers to avoid any sort of registry "booster" unless they are using the reg tools to fix a specific problem.

Over the years the automatic reg editing software like tools have always proven to be more hassle than they are worth.

Nothing will keep your PC running more smoothly than good house keeping. Uninstall programs that are not used, only select startup with windows when you absolutely need a program to do so. Avoid resource hogs that like to install their own little "startup managers" (im looking at you quicktime / realplayer / etc etc etc).

Thanks for those 2 very quick responses.......... I will continue to monitor this as I am aware that some 'specialists' believe that Windows also screws its own registry entries.
Nothing's ever easy is it :-(

A good friend of mine once rang me once he tried one of these. He deleted most of his registry and then for some reason known only to the gods "this crappy computer wont even load windows".

Then again this is the same guy who rang me after upgrading his gpu, he swore the new card was faulty. Turns out, you have to turn the machine off before swapping out cards. Honestly, there should be stickers or something about that on the case.

Windows very very rarely trips itself up nowadays, its always down to the installed programs. Like in XP/Vista when Itunes would edit the registry on install sometimes to enable its CD-Writing functions. Unforeseen consequence being that it disabled the optical drive completely.

Win 7 registry should only be opened up by anything if there is a specific problem to be fixed, its fairly mature now and maintenance free. The same applies to any sort of "memory booster" program.

What ive noticed is that all uninstalled programs never get their relevant registry entry removed :(

Thanks for all posts, I have reinstated the first Uniblue restore point and will not use again, unless I get stuck.
