Spec check, please!

Hey guys,

I've convinced a co-worker to look at getting a PC from PCS, so just wanted to run a spec past you guys to see if there's anything glaringly obvious that needs to be changed. He does have other SSD/HDD to throw in for extra storage.

Needs: He is a fairly casual gamer but wants to run the newer games on highest settings.
Monitor: He is looking at getting the Dell 34" OLED - AW3423DWF
Budget: between £2,000 - £2,500

Currently the build is this:

Best thing to do is get him signed up on here so he can ask advise himself, going back and forth through a 3rd party always causes problems

Thing is, he doesn't know what he wants. So he is just asking me to give him a decent build, I trust your guys input.
I can ask him questions easy if needs be, but think I could answer any you might have.

I agree that it would be helpful to speak with your friend directly, but here's where I'd be inclined to spend the budget to match that gorgeous monitor. A lesser motherboard, a less expensive but just as good SSD, and a better graphics card.

Thanks @sck451 - Some good ideas, I showed my friend what spec I bought and then just tried to down spec it a bit.

I like the options you have put, I'd also like to keep him away from AMD GPU's, from my own experience just so many driver issues so will stay on the Nvidia 4080 if that's what you suggest. Yeah, I told him about my monitor and how beautiful it is. Now he wants it too! haha

I assume the cooler selected is okay too? I wasn't sure the difference between all the ones listed, I know some are bigger or have more power draw. I just went with cheapest of the Corsair.

Cheers,

A 360mm AIO is absurd overkill for a 7800X3D. But I probably wouldn't go cheaper in a build of this budget.

The only question is over those drives. You want to be sure they are good M.2/NVMe drives, not older/slower SATA drives. They would technically do for gaming, but at this budget you can definitely get better!
