Soundcard Static When moving mouse

Hi, i recentally bought a PC from PCS and i have been pleased with (most) of the computer :)
However, im having problems with both back and front sound jacks (Havent been able to test microphone yet)
I always have this high pitched static in the back ground, more so with the front jack.
If i have it plugged in the back whenever i move my mouse the static seems to turn more crackly, then when i stop moving it it goes back to being high pitched.
I would like to know why this is, and IF i can get rid of it.
trying to play games/watch films with this in the back ground is very irritating after a while.
Its an onboard sound card
Default device is "VIA High Definition Audio"
I added my own graphics card - XFX 5830
Thanks in advance.

I have the same issue but only with the front jacks, my back jacks are fine so I use them, unfortunately I dont know the fix :(

It works better in the back with headset plugged in- i cant hear it at all, but with speakers i can (have tested speakers on other pc)
i read somewhere that putting a bit of electricians tape around the end of the wires may help, so i did that to the HD header but still no luck :<

I think a build up of static may cause this, although I'm not an expert on this topic. Could you contact our call centre on 0844 499 4000 - they may have some better solutions for you to try.

I shall leave ringing till tomorrow, as im actually waiting for a reply via email just wondered if anyone could enlighten me on here.
i get the feeling i may have to splash out on a soundcard :(
didnt expect to have to after spending £700 but if needs must

mines onboard sound card too Lynad and as I say it only happens with the front ports so It would have to be a fault somewhere I would guess, the cards would never be made/used if they were, by design, crap. I do high end gaming with my onboard sound card, BFBC2 etc sounds fantastic with no issues what-so-ever.

Yes, i guess not but.
i think its interference from all the stuff inside the computer, i know if i plug into the front jack and i plug in a usb external hd
when the light on the hd flashes, the static crackles a little, i wonder if its a faulty header wire.
Just been playing BF2 myself :)
hearing stuff past the rocket launching cg people + heleocopters, plus sound static proving hard, think ill stay away from hardcore servers untill i get this cleared up :)

may be a loose connection with the MB? if its crackling and staticcy then perhaps its just a bad connection? you have downloaded all latest drivers aswell i assume?

Yes, got the new drivers for it.
tried everything i can think of that may help
if it was just a loose connection, would moving my mouse effect it ?

technically moving hte mouse shouldnt make any sound.. but i suppose nething is possible!

Steve

Thats why I never understood why it does it, only thing I can really descibe it as is like when you used to connect a 56kModem, the screaching but only much much quieter and gets louder and changes tone when you move it...

The most common cause for this i have come across is like mentioned elsewhere on this thread, interferance.

Its usually fixed by replacing the offending component, most likely the GPU or the PSU. As PCS suggests you are best off calling us and booking it in if needed.

Unfortunately this one can easily sneak through testing as the sound although annoying once you notice it is so discrete you cant really spot it in a normal working environment.

I can see that being quiet annoying as i didnt buy my graphics card from pc specialist.
Would a soundcard fix it, you know not using the onboard one ? :/

worth trying if you can borrow one to test it, however i would be reluctant to sink any cash into it as its pure guess work.

Last time this happened to me it was the PSU, was too low amp for my GPU and squeeled really quietly every time i did anything with the mouse or gaming. when i cranked the volume up on the speakers i could hear a static fuzz that conincided with my mouse movements.

I bought a better PSU that could handle my GPU.

Yup that is a good CPU, i was talking about the Power Supply (PSU) though.

I cant see that card drawing an unreasonable amount of power though.

when i had my issue i was running a GTX 280.

On this 700w PSU:

i got the 650 power supply, i made sure i asked your customer support if it would be good enough to run it properly, and i was told it would be fine.
Well, my headset runs fine in the back i dont get any static at the levels i play it at(rather not K.O my ears) i got a headphone splitter for the back as i cant use the front.
Im reluctant to give it away for another week or two, having no computer makes me a tad emo ;>

650w means you have the Corsair, which is plenty for that card. So its not that unless its faulty.

You get the sound through the back through speakers and not headphones? curiouser and curiouser. I bet its that graphics card giving out some freaky signals, got another you can pop in to test?

Wait, its been back before?

having no computer makes me a tad emo ;>

Lol no, meaning i just got it after 2 weeks of waiting :D
And yes, i get the sound from speakers but not headphones - but at the front i get it through headphones aswell, pretty weird no ?
I may see if i can get a little header wire and just see if its the wire from the front jack to the mobo

Just tried my old graphics card, same thing happening.
Its leading me to believe that my speakers are just naff and its a coincidence that the front jacks are naff too.
which would explain why my headset is fine in the back, and why it isnt in the front.
Would it be possible to get PCspecialist to mail out a HD audio header ? or do you not do that?
just incase its the wire thats faulty :)
