i'd go with the 8gb corsair as its faster u wont be using 16gb of ram so a smaller amount thats faster should be better right?

well im just going to assume you've got one hell of a budget to build an overkill machine like that. Just make sure you at least put the cover to 1year Collect and Return... for £5 its not much relative to the cost of the rest of it ;)

It depends on what the computer is going to be used for.. 16GB is a bit overkill for the average person, unless its going to be put under ALOT of pressure, personally i have gone for the faster RAM chip (1600Mhz) but the 8GB version and i'm going to gaming on it..

Hi Waydal242,

Welcome to the forums.

Looks like a good rig. I'd stick with the samsung RAM as this will offer better stability, 16GB is a bit overkill as steve kindly pointed out but if you want it why not. I'd also change your PSU to a Corsair TX850 or if you want the beast go for the Sorsair HX1000 as these offer much better power delivery than our standard FSP ones.

Just make sure you at least put the cover to 1year Collect and Return - Sweeney47

good point, it is worth it for a fiver.

Nice rig! im with misterdave on this, if you thing you need 16Gb then why not! and i would agree with the Corsair TX850.

P.s you can have the HAF in any colour you want as long as its black.

Ok was looking at the sli system and the 930 chip that I could overclock to around 3.6?

Also with the 12gb corsair 16000mhz why is it so much cheaper than the 12gb samsung 1333mhz? is it because its less chips?

And about the overkill, my parents agreed to get me a new computer for passing the course so how bad.

here the new config, it says this so i changed the motherboard, does it look right?

Now it's even more like mine lol. But yeah that looks awesome. As your going to be overclocking (You are right?) you might want to stay with the COOLIT ECO A.L.C (ADVANCED LIQUID COOLER).

waydal242

Would it make much of a difference?
the most I would be overclocking would be to 3.6

And would the 850 power supply be enough?

SSD and Raptors trade blows on the speed issue, reads will always be faster on the SSD writes tend to be faster on the raptors, down to how you use the machine and what for really.

Theoretically your PC would be slightly faster with an SSD, however they are still rather expensive for the capacity you get;

40GB Intel X25-M SSD = 150GB WD Velociraptor

As Gorman says, there are pros & cons for both and there is no right or wrong choice, either way your PC is still going to pretty damn fast!!
