Ray Tracing....thoughts?

Hello :)

Just a musing really on Ray Tracing.
I bought my PC (3600x CPU, 3070 GPU) in hope of playing the latest and greatest at 60fps with Ray Tracing at 1080p. It didn't seem unreasonable - Knowing zero about PC when I bought the machine...and still nothing since. I have to say, I'm. Let's say, underwhelmed by the 3070.

Is it me?

Control. With DLSS on. 60fps (mostly)
Battlefield. Nope
Cyberpunk. Big Fat Nope.

Is Ray Tracing really possible on the 3070 with a stable fps. Or just marketing hype?

I've just been finishing up Gears 5 at 60fps (I know it can do over 100fps, but I just like the smoother experience of 60fps, and plus the fan's go CRAZY at higher fps) - No ray tracing of course. And with the graphical settings, max'd out. Looks pretty enough.

Is it time to bite the bullet and when loading up x, ray tracing enabled game. Except. It's unlikely to bring the 'inner joy' I was hopeful for?

We love you Ukraine
Cyberpunk just doesn't work at 1080p at all, it's still completely broken, so not worth consideration.

Control at 60FPS is about right, it's the hungriest game on the planet.

COD should run fine with that GPU, it will be bottlenecked by the CPU, but shouldn't tank performance to the degree you can't play it.

Are you sure you've got DLSS enabled up to 1440p and not 4k?

On battlefield. There isn’t a dlss option for 1080p?

On Control it’s there. Won’t run well otherwise

I do wonder if ray tracing is a bit beyond the ability of the 3070 for 60fps? Just musing really. What FPS will the PS5 run with it switched on?

3070 should be absolutely fine with Ray tracing. It’s not the card holding you back, likely trying to resample to 4k or some configuration problem somewhere.
