Price check times?

Hey,
I was just wondering how long it took for messages, more specifically a price check, to be read and replied to. Normally I wouldn't be so pushy, but I need the laptop for holiday and I leave in 15 days time. As you require up to two weeks to build... you see where I'm going here ;)
Also, it would be a nice idea to have some confirmation of some sort that the message has been received other than just seeing the message in my outbox.
Many thanks

I don't know about the messages, but if you definitely need your laptop in the next two weeks, I would advise you to pay a bit extra for one of the fast track delivery options.

Yes, I may have to do that now! The other thing is though, that if they decide they cannot match the price I would like to order the machine from the competitor as soon as. I'm getting a bit tired of running off a Pentium 1.4Ghz single core and 512mb of RAM :p

Wow, you found somewhere cheaper?

They're cheaper and include a 3 year warranty?

Wow £500 cheaper is a huge dip. But like HMFC_Riley said, is there a 3 year warrenty. What is the service like?
But still £500 lol. I'm excited to see what PCS do.

Yeah. It's a good £500 too, so it's not like I'm just being picky! I'm not really sure what I'm expecting really. I doubt they'll be willing to slash £500 off.

I'm not sure but I'd be fairly certain they wouldn't be able to do that. The components they sell they sell for not much over stock price and with the warranty it is usually cheaper to let them build it than buy it and build it yourself.

Out of curiosity who is this competitior?

That's what I was thinking. The main reason I wanted to see if they could do a price check was for the warranty. But I don't really think a 3 year warranty is worth £500 to me.
As for stating the competitor, I just checked in the Forum Rules and don't think I'm allowed.(?)

Damn it lol. Hmmm, wonder if you could PM it?

We cannot price a match a £500 difference. I believe I know which laptop/company are in question, and we cannot match it because it's a different chassis and graphics card, so not really the same specification.

Thank you for the response. Yes, I believe it may be a different chassis. But the graphics card, I believe, is the same (GTX 260M).
Will I be receiving a response through the PCSpecialist mail system too?
Many Thanks

The way it's put together can affect price too, if you have one of those rare removable laptop gfx chips, then, it costs substantially more than one just soldered onto the mainboard. There's countless other little details too :)

Ah, ok thanks. I work mostly with desktops, where as far as I'm concerned each GPU is almost identical. I didn't appreciate it worked that way in some laptops and not others.
Anyway, I've contacted the competitor who've said for £70 I can have a fully covered 3year warranty (except accidental obviously).
So unless PCSpecialist come back soon I think I'll take my business there and save me £400 odd :)

Unfortunately we cannot match this chassis - it's a different chassis to what we provide, and therefore the pricing structure is different. It's a distant dream that we would make enough on a laptop to reduce the price by £400 - £500, but thanks for considering us anyway. :)
