Without knowing what it's for, or the monitor(s) it's being used with, or the max budget, it's very difficult to give a definitive answer.

But in most cases we'd probably recommend a current-gen AMD build.

It will be used only for 1440p gaming on games like Warzone, Cyberpunk, R6s, Assetto Corsa (racing sim setup).

Will be used with a 1440p MSI 170hZ display and a 1080p ASUS TUF 180hz display.

I'm trying to find a tidy pre-build which will be up too scratch as I purchased an Acer Orion 3000 RTX 4070 I7 13700F and when it arrived only had a 500W psu fitted and the cooling fans were useless and CPU idle temp was close to 70 degrees so I sent it back.

I'm not really looking to go down the route of building my own. This will be my first proper gaming PC coming from a gaming laptop so i'm not really sure on what I should be looking out for.

What is the reason you would recommend AMD over intel?

I have a feeling you may be misunderstanding. PCS build the system for you, you just select what goes into it via the configurator and they build to that spec. You don't need to come up with the spec on your own though, we will gladly help with that side of it.

I put together some helpful links and information below that you can look over at your leisure. I think you've covered the main points we would require but what is your max budget?

Do you have any aspirations or preferences towards Ray Tracing or VR usage?

There are many reasons to avoid Intel at the moment (and have been on-going for years but blind customer faith seems them still selling well). The most recent example is pretty much covered below:

Sorry yes I think there is some confusion. This isn't a purchase through the PCSpecialist website, this is one of the PCSpecialist pre builds supplied by Curry's.

Yes and what @Scott is saying is we wouldn't recommend one of these, pretty much for the reasons you yourself mentioned in your original past, however if you let us know usage, nitrous, budget etc, we can sort you a spec that will give you better bang for tube nick, now and in the future, pc specialist will build it for you

As others have said, it's like buying a new car and picking all your options from the configuration tool. You don't actually build it, you just pick from the options list.

A 'pre-built' from Curry's, Littlewoods, Costco, etc. is like going into the car dealer and buying a pre-registered (but new) car off the forecourt that may or may not have all the specific options you wanted - but may be sold at a discount.

Where this analogy breaks down is that the pre-built PCs tend not to be cheaper, as there are 2 companies taking margin out of it.

Here's the 'equivalent' AMD version of that build, with higher-rated components (PSU, case, Corsair iCUE Link case fans, and Corsair iCUE Link AIO cooler).

Case
CORSAIR 5000D AIRFLOW TEMPERED GLASS GAMING CASE - better quality, larger case for great airflow and space for upgradability to monster GPUs when they come along...and if space is an issue, then the 4000D is the slightly smaller option
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Eight Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.0GHz/104MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5) - the current best gaming CPU, and uses less than half the power of the Intel whilst doing so
Motherboard
ASUS® TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI (AM5, DDR5, PCIe 4.0, Wi-Fi 6) - could go up to the X670 motherboards if there's a specific feature you need
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6000MHz (2 x 16GB) - same as the Curry's-spec PC
Graphics Card
16GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 Ti SUPER - HDMI, DP, LHR - same as the Curry's-spec PC
Graphics Card Support Bracket
NONE (BRACKET INCLUDED AS STANDARD ON 4070 Ti / RX 7700 XT AND ABOVE)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
512GB SOLIDIGM P44 PRO GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 7000MB/sR, 4700MB/sW) - very fast drive for Windows/Apps only (keeping everything on a single drive means a single point of failure and you risk losing everything)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
2TB SOLIDIGM P41+ GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 4125MB/sR, 3325MB/sW) - fast secondary drive for game installs
Power Supply
CORSAIR 1200W RMx SHIFT SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS GOLD, ULTRA QUIET - one of the new ATX3/PCIE5 PSUs with protection from transient power spikes that the latest GPUs trigger
Power Cable
1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead, 1.0mm Core)
Processor Cooling
CORSAIR ICUE LINK H100i RGB HIGH PERFORMANCE CPU COOLER - plenty for this CPU, and as it's part of the new iCUE Link series it means there's only one controller and one cable in the case - the rest is daisy-chained through the fan frames
Thermal Paste
STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING
Extra Case Fans
4 x Corsair ICUE LINK QX120 RGB PWM Fan + Controller Kit - not strictly necessary, but put in to match the aesthetics of the Curry's build
Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Card
ONBOARD 2.5Gbe LAN PORT
USB/Thunderbolt Options
MIN. 2 x USB 3.0 & 2 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL + MIN. 2 FRONT PORTS

...and to put your mind at ease about the AMD vs Intel arguments...here's the latest 14900K vs 7800x3D comparative benchmarks from Hardware Unboxed...running the i9 at the 'official' power specs (and not the over-powered specs that they claim were causing issues)...and the 7800x3D delivers this performance using 100w less (and upto 150w less than when running the over-powered specs)!
