PC for a 10 year old

Hello,

I require the expertise of you enthusiasts to help build a PC for my friend's little one. The max budget is £1,000 and the machine will be used exclusively for gaming as well as some light web browsing. Some games he plays are Fortnite, Roblox and Slime Rancher to name a few. It's important to his family that this PC is upgradable as when he gets older he'll want to play more demanding games so I've factored that into what I think will be right.

I personally would wait until the b550 motherboard is back in stock for upgrade path or go for one of the higher spec B series motherboards. Probably a faster RAM as well if you are jumping straight into 16gb

Sorry, I should say why. There is no guarantee 4 series motherboards will support future AMD processors where as 5 series will go for one , or maybe more generations.

There's one obvious downgrade you can do in the system: the Intel SSD isn't so great; the PCS one is absolutely fine and a decent bit cheaper.

In terms of upgrades, I'd wait for the B550 motherboard to be back in stock and I'd go for the 5600X processor, 3200MHz RAM and the 1650 Super when it's back in stock. This comes to £1036 and makes for a build that is significantly better in the medium term and not compromised in terms of long-term upgradability in nearly the same way.

It's still a laughable system to pair with a 1440p 144Hz monitor, but...

Here's a slightly incorrect build with the wrong motherboard and the wrong graphics card, though it is approximately the right price!
