Overkill?

Morning,

I'm in the process of speccing up a replacement PC for the office. It'll be used as an IT Department workhorse - hence the power specced here.

But is this overkill for a system admin pc? Budget is £780.

Thoughts & Suggestions welcome!!

What exactly are you going to be running on the PC, apps wise?

Off the bat, I could probably suggest swapping down to 8Gb of RAM, even then that might be overkill for your needs.
Plus, if this is administrive IT work, do you need a dedicated graphics card? Most integrated graphics would probably do you well.

Plan is to install VMplayer as multiple OS's would be a treat! Along with the usual administration tools!

I know 16GB will be far too much for day 1 - but due to the low price of RAM, isnt it worth future proofing today? Dual monitors is why I've added a graphics card. Ideally dual DVI.

For running multiple VM's at the same time having more cores and more RAM is very useful.
