Now that I have your attention, someone (not me) has problem on another forum.
He records gameplay on an HDPVR http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html in mpg4 format. He then imports to a PC with the included Arcsoft software.
He then wants to edit the resulting files (I think for u-tube) but has found that 2 files (so far) seem incompatible with the program while some others can be edited. The program does not like variable framerate video.
What I would like to know is how the output from the Xbox360 is recorded by the PVR. Is it all at a variable framerate, downconverted to say 30fps but with lower frequencies as they are. Or what.
