No Glaring Mistakes?

Hello,

I'm a first time builder. This PC will be used for MSoft Office, getting emails/online and some gaming from disc. I was advised to up the power supply to 450W. I will also be connecting wirelessly to my husband's Mac, hardwired in the other room, via the wireless card. That's about it!

Any comments would be very welcome!

Yeah there are a few changes I would advise, save money in some places and spend literally a few £'s in others, I'll spec up a build quickly for you and see what you think . What was the price of this one by the way?

Here's a slightly improved spec, it consists a smaller primary Hard Drive for better performance (always better to have a smaller primary drive) and a large secondary Hard Drive (lower energy consumption 'Green' drive for storage etc). A better performing Graphics Card (for £10 less), half the RAM (as you will never use 8GB at all unless multitasking heavily and using the pc for 2D/3D modelling) and have also changed to Bullguard AV (as it's less resource hungry, basically doesn't slow the pc down as much).

8gb of ram for ms office and light gaming =O go with 4gb, no games need more than that atm. Also, do you need wireless mouse and keyboard? it would be cheaper to just go with the wired really unless you really want wireless.

Agree here, 4gb should be plenty.

Actually some games do use an awful lot of memory, so this isn't quite correct, though most newer games don't need anywhere near this amount (the game I play can use 3gigs worth of memory (good job I've got 6GB) - but it was built quite a few years ago and uses CPU memory rather the GPU memory because at the time, some games were built like that)

Also, do you need wireless mouse and keyboard? it would be cheaper to just go with the wired really unless you really want wireless.

I guess wireless or not wireless is mostly a preference and some find wireless easier cos then there are less wires, so pick whichever is going to be most useful to yourself luclyo.
