Was looking at buying a rtx 3080 GPU but I realised that on the pc specialist website you can get a ASUS 3080 and then a Palit/Zotac 3080, what’s the difference?

Just different designs but all using the same GPU. It’s just different fan layouts and different PCB components. The ASUS cards are a lot more expensive because they’re made out of premium components.

Really at stock they’ll all behave basically the same, cards like the Asus are really only relevant for overclocking or extreme load like rendering or scientific workloads, but overclocking your GPU will void your warranty with PCS so it’s largely irrelevant.

Looking at using for gaming pushing for the highest FPS so in theory it wouldn’t make a difference as I won’t be overclocking to force an issue with lesser components?

No, they all use the same GPU, so there will be no difference in FPS for gaming, within like 1 fps difference here and there, literally nothing other than margin of error.

So just to confirm going for a GPU that uses palit or zotac 3080 will say be better than an Asus 3070ti for example?

Yes, absolutely. All depending on what screen you’re pairing it with, if the GPU doesn’t match the screen, getting a higher gpu is going to make zero difference as the screen will be a bottleneck.

I’ve got a Samsung G7 odyssey 27” running for 1440 picture with the future of changing?

Depends which games were taking about? If it’s competitive gaming then I take it you’re reducing settings substantially, in which case a 3070 or 3070ti would make sense.

Looking competitive warzone or first shooter games. With the lower setting to get the best refresh rate with the VA panel. But looking at also future proofing just trying to decide what’s better the 3080 as I know it’s performs better but then I didn’t know if brand of 3080 Palit/ zotac made a difference to say a Asus 3070 or TI GPU

3080 would be worth it then for warzone, with low settings and DLSS enabled, you should average around 200fps

Nice one I’ll continue with the 3080, another question when building or buying from PCS how will I know which brand they will use as it says Palit or Zotac or is it pot luck?

It’s pot luck, at the moment it’s been palit, zotac, gigabyte and even a few evga.

But either one of them will still perform better than the ASUS 3070 or ti?
Yes, 3080 is more powerful than a 3070 or 3070ti, no matter what brand.

The GPU is the same in any card, it’s just the cooling design that’s different.

Can I ask, do you already have the G7?

Yes I do already have the G7, why?
It's just an unusual choice for someone just entering PC gaming.

Have you ever experienced high refresh rate? 99% of humans can't appreciate any difference over about 120Hz, literally makes no difference at all.

No this is my first entry into the pc gaming. Just bought it, having done my research it was the best I could get while future proofing depending on the CPU and GPU I can afford at a later date.

You would have done far better with an IPS ultrawide, would have been a significantly better experience if factoring in a 3080.

Like I say, over 120Hz is largely pointless unless you're playing in matches and earning big bucks.

It's worth saying to reassure you that it won't be a bad experience at all – it's a wonderful monitor – but it's just not the value for money option, and it's not worth spending extra hundreds of pounds on an extra-powerful graphics card to make sure you get it to its highest refresh rate.

Tbf I understand that but I did manage to get it for £350 so I didn’t think I could do much better for that price haha.
