Weird how no one has replied here yet, but I shall be the first! :)

Looks like a solid spec, there are a couple things I would change though.

If you've got the money it would be worth getting a quad core processor, which would speed up the computer and help future-proof it.

You may want to upgrade the RAM to Kingston not Samsung (it doesn't make much difference but there's not much price difference), and you may want to consider 16gb RAM if you are running lots of things at once.

And I would definitely recommend an upgrade in hard drive, the one you've selected is quite slow and improving it to either a Seagate Momentus or, even better, a Momentus Hybrid, will speed up boot time and file loading times.

Other than that it's a nice spec :)

Theres no real difference between the two, so it's not really worth the price increase :)

Also, the 16GB will be overkill, but will allow the laptop to be future proofed for the next few years :)

Agree with everything else though :)

The Keir has some good points, the cpu would be good to upgrade, the hdd, definately recommend an upgrade. The thermal paste also, it is worth a lot more than the £9. The OS is in there, he has got win professional. I wouldn't recommend upgrading the RAM speed, there is very little performance difference and it is much more expensive. Size is up to you but 8GB should be fine.
