Hi peeps!

I’m looking for a pc that will run world of Warcraft on max settings for the next 5-6 years!

Obviously not fussed with ray tracing in a game like wow!

My budget is around 2k!

Any help would be amazing ?

Cj

As per my original post, can you let us know what monitor (make & model, or resolution & refresh rate) you're using, and whether you'll be using the PC for anything demanding - other than gaming - such as video editing, photo-processing, AI, etc.

I have

ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ HDR Gaming Monitor - 27 Inch WQHD (2560 x 1440), IPS, 155Hz*, ELMB Sync, G-SYNC Compatible, Adaptive-sync, 1 ms (MPRT), HDR10, Black

And no this pc is purely for world of Warcraft gaming for the next 6 years with the best graphics with the best frame rate.

Thx

This would be a very good 1440p build...and comes in under budget...

Case
CORSAIR 4000D AIRFLOW TEMPERED GLASS GAMING CASE - good, solid airflow case, but not too big
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Eight Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.0GHz/104MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5) - the best gaming CPU at the moment
Motherboard
ASUS® TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI (AM5, DDR5, PCIe 4.0, Wi-Fi 6) - latest platform, so suitable for an upgrade in 5 years
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 6000MHz (2 x 16GB) - sweet spot for AM5
Graphics Card
16GB AMD RADEON™ RX 7900 GRE - HDMI, DP - DX® 12 - arguably overkill for 1440p, but best value at the moment
Graphics Card Support Bracket
NONE (BRACKET INCLUDED AS STANDARD ON 4070 Ti / RX 7700 XT AND ABOVE)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
512GB SOLIDIGM P44 PRO GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 7000MB/sR, 4700MB/sW) - super-fast OS/apps drive, nothing else should be stored on this
1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB SOLIDIGM P41+ GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 4125MB/sR, 2950MB/sW) - this is plenty if it's only for different versions of WoW
Power Supply
CORSAIR 850W RMx SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET - plenty for this CPU/GPU, and could handle a CPU/GPU upgrade too
Power Cable
1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead, 1.0mm Core)
Processor Cooling
CORSAIR ICUE LINK H115i RGB HIGH PERFORMANCE CPU COOLER - very quiet, but you could get away with the Deepcool A620 tower cooler if you want to tweak/reassign the budget
Thermal Paste
STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING
Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Card
ONBOARD 2.5Gbe LAN PORT

So on my current Low spec pc I stored wow on the main ssd drive. Recently it took so much space I had to move it to the second drive and it seems to take longer for the game to load. I was told the secondary drives do have longer times to load. Would this be the case with two ssd’s. Rather than just getting a single 2tb ssd and having everything on it ? I’m not a pc guy who knows anything about pcs tbh. So this question may seem a little naive.

What speed/type are your current primary & secondary drives?

The reason for 2 drives is both security & speed. Security in that you don’t lose your games if the primary drive fails or Windows has to be reinstalled; speed in that the system/background processes/games are not competing for the same disc resources at the same time.

Ok! I get what you’re saying. I don’t even know what drives I currently have atm. But I know the pc struggles with frame rate and a game like wow which is 20 years old this year shouldn’t struggle at full graphics and high frame rate. It was only a pre built pc from here for 1k about 4 years ago I think. Ty for taking the time to answer my questions and also look up a pc spec for me.

As with any online game, game engines are updated every so often, so what could run it 20 years ago, won't be the same as now. Similarly, DLC's are constantly released, so the space it takes up will continue to grow year on year.

Hi! Tony

Can I just get away with a 2tb version ssd and not have two ? Just have the operating system and games files on one! Seeing as it’s just wow that will be on the pc! ?

The reasons for 2 (or more) were listed in the link I posted.

But, of course you could, as long as you understand - and are happy with - the risk of having everything in one place.

It would work out about t £50 more expensive as the whole drive would really need to be the faster, more expensive, Solidgm P44 Pro version.
