It's definitely not the route I would go down, there are some questionable choices. We need a bit more info though, as per the above link from @Martinr36.

The comment from him is actually a link to a collaboration post. If you click it, it'll give you what we're after and there's also some useful guides and information contained within that will show you our typical thought processes when suggesting builds :)

There's a lot of rabbit holes. We are always happy to draft up a spec for you to discuss, we just need the initial information to get us started :)

What's your price bracket for the monitor? 240Hz isn't really worthwhile for gaming, it's only really beneficial for a small niche of users. But prioritising 240Hz over a better 144Hz panel wouldn't make any sense.

The price bracket is around £250 it can go a little either way but most monitors around that price are 240hz so its not that big of a stretch

Yes, but a £250 240Hz monitor will be substantially worse than a £240 144Hz monitor, and you're getting no benefit from 240Hz over 144Hz.

But at that price as well, I take it you're looking at 1080p panels which would bottleneck a system of this calibre, you need to be looking at 1440p monitors.

That is true i'll definitely take that into consideration when i get the monitor but i want to get the PC ordered first so i know exactly how much i have for the monitor and other bits

But without know what5 spec monitor you are going to have you can't spec the GPU and everything else for a balanced system

I just had a quick look and i've found one i like that's almost £100 below my budget and is 2550 x 1440 pixels and 170hz so i'm thinking about getting that one i also have a cheaper version that i use for my xbox so i know that the quality is decent

What panel is it though? You may be not fully understanding how monitors work. Anything under an IPS panel is basically a no no, at that price it's almost certainly a VA or even worse a TN which is quite frankly unusable by modern standards and should be avoided at any cost.

But the monitor is the last part of the output, if you have a crap monitor, doesn't matter how good the PC is, you're only getting a basic output at the display.

The display can only handle what the GPU put's out and vice versa, you have to balance the system.

It looks like a VA panel i'll try and see if i can find one with an ips panel do you have any recommendations?

That is pretty decent, it's new (last summer) and gets good reviews on RTings

Yeah that one looks decent its under budget and the cons on the link that you posted are not too bad so i'll be going with that monitor thanks for going out of your way and researching that monitor
