Just some observations:
Laptop purchased: Optimus 2 - i7 2630QM - nvidia 540 1gig card - 8 gig kingston ram - 250gig WD scorpian drive. £814.00
1. Pre-sales and sales process was very good. Very helpful staff, website easy to use, and the forum is a great place for any initial queries you may have and was PM'ing using the email address. Gave me the confidence to choose PCS over anyone else.
2. 5-7 day delivery time a bit misleading. I assumed from the moment I put my order in it would take a week to get the laptop. However I always felt I knew what was going on so it wasn't too bad.
3. Delivery was fine for me, tracked it ok and delivered quickly. Was a bit worried about this as I have heard a few horror stories.
4. Initial thoughts on opening the box and seeing and feeling the new laptop was disappointment. It felt cheap (plastic) to the touch, the case is obviously a generic case used by more than one company, as I have see the same "looking" laptop on a German website. I assume this is partly what keeps the prices down?
The screen when up has a slight wobble if the the table is knocked or moved.
The heat exhaust is on the left side of the machine. Can be slightly annoying as I am a left handed person.
The optimus tech is "quirky". see seperate post: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?5436-Optimus-query.
The DVD drive bay feels very cheap and nasty.
5. There are no lights for scroll or number lock, or they are not working. There is a light for caps lock situated at the front of the machine.
6. Performance is very good. No problem running anything.
7. Worked straight out the box.
So to sum up: Love the performance, Hate the look and feel of the case.
