High End Gaming with 3080

Hi!

Could I have some suggestions on the below gaming build. I was looking at a 2.5K-3K price range with any overshot going to monitor budget. The Graphics card I will put in is the 3080.

Background:

After 5-6 years of using my (at the time) mid range gaming laptop I am finally at a place where I can get my first proper desktop and I am looking to spec a gaming monster that also looks shiny; a full on probably-shouldnt-spend-this-much-on-a-computer-at-my-age rig!

As with my laptop I am looking to get something, where I will have to spend minimal time/effort on changing or maintaining (beyond dust removal) hardware. I want it to be something which I can use to play the big games of the next several years at high or ultra settings.

I will have a separate budget for monitors; will be picking up a high refresh 1440p for multiplayer FPS games and later this year a 4K or similar.

I have spent a fair bit of time vacillating between AMD and Intel; in the end I went with the intel because it won (slightly) in pure gaming usage, and also I would feel a bit silly buying AMD on the verge of their next big release...which leads me to something I should have mentioned that I absolutely must have my setup in place for the Cyberpunk release on 19th Nov. That is why I don't want to wait for the next gen AMD and risk lack of stock issues with GPUs

AMD has been the better choice for 5+ years now. For multi-thread/cores, Intel are nowhere...Intel do give a few more fps for gaming but, when you factor in the higher cost, higher thermals and the security flaws, the extra fps isn't really worth it. The only environment where Intel is recommended is either in 240Hz 1080p competitive gaming where fps is paramount...and some applications are only optimised for Intel so there Intel would be better.

The Intel win in gaming is only relevant at lower resolutions. As soon as you step up to 4k, you'll fine a £100 3300x actually performs BETTER in a lot of titles.

For gaming, and purely gaming, the 3600XT is the go to.

If you're factoring any kind of streaming or basically anything aside from gaming, then a 3800XT would be recommended, for any substantial workload, a 3900x and upwards.
