What games will you be playing? What monitor will you be using? What coding will you be doing? (Platform, language, development environment, etc.) And what's the budget?

Hi thanks for the reply, im using a 1080 144hz monitor but will be upgrading to a 1440p 240hz at one point. Im a software engineer as a graduate so working with many different technologies but at the moment more javascript and react. IDES i use vscode and intellij and android studio. I wouldnt like to go too much more than 2.4k pounds if i dont need to as it is already pushing my budget unless there is a really good addition.

For 1080p, this is massive overkill. Indeed, even for 1440p a 4080 Super is questionable. I'd suggest getting a 4070 Ti Super and upgrading to 1440p pretty soon: this allows you the budget to spend properly on other components like memory, cooling, the case, and a slightly nicer storage setup.

I'm suggesting the Corsair 4000D RGB Airflow case; there are other nice white options like the 5000D Airflow that PCS stocks, or with "send in your own case" there are options like the Hyte Y60, the Fractal Pop Air series, the Fractal Focus 2, the Phanteks NV9, or all kinds of others. That's a really good option if you have a specific look you're after. I wouldn't get the PCS own-brand case, though: some are OK, but at best they're middling quality.

Here's a build I'd suggest for you on the above lines. You could compromise on other components to squeeze a 4080 Super in, but I doubt it will be worth it unless you're playing very demanding games at very high settings after getting that new 1440p monitor!

Case
CORSAIR 4000D RGB AIRFLOW TEMPERED GLASS GAMING CASE - WHITE
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Eight Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.0GHz/104MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5)

ASUS® TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI (AM5, DDR5, PCIe 4.0, Wi-Fi 6)

32GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 6000MHz (2 x 16GB) Faster RAM

Thank you so much for the detailed response, i appreciate it a lot and may actually go for the build you made. Once again thank you a lot👍. The main reason i thought of the 4080 super was for future proofing me. Your points make a lot of sense. I would also occasionally game at 4k as i have a oled tv downstairs that can do 4k 120fps for games like red dead or maybe cyberpunk i would play there

For future proofing you'd do much better to spend on the base system, get the graphics card you need today, and then upgrade when you need to.

The 4070 Ti Super will do an adequate job of 4K 120fps. Not at absolute top settings, but at a very adequate level.
