First gaming PC - Is this okay?

First gaming PC guys, £1800 is pretty much my budget without monitors etc. I'd be using mostly for gaming (Cold war/cyberpunk etc) and some work stuff (Tekla Structures), I already know this is more then enough for Tekla. Looking to game on a 27" 1440p monitor @ 120hz plus (Which I still need to find a decent one).

Thoughts? Don't know enough if anything might get bottlenecked or if I've over specced anything compared to other components

I've added on an extra £15 worth of changes... changed the case in order to keep the budget as close to your as possible...

Motherboard to the TUF X570, changed the M.2 to the PCS one as the Intel range have a much lower maximum write capacity, you don't want that! Got rid of the thermal paste, your Corsair cooler comes with high quality case pre-applied. And the silver warranty for an extra fiver is just good sense :D (y)

Nice one cheers, didn't check the warranty part -_-.

If I was to stretch to the 1TB firecuda ssd, would I notice any performance increase? or is it overkill?

You’d have a crazy fast boot with the Firecuda. And any games that have big load times (something like Red Dead Redemption 2) would see a significant impact too.

The luxury move would be something like a 500GB Samsung 970/980 as your boot drive and then adding a second M.2 like the 1TB PCS one and use that as your game storage 👍

Good stuff, I'll have a think between the 2, and place an order at weekend. Was going to wait till black Friday, but I've heard there's not many deals normally on PC parts, well not on the new stuff anyway, so doubt I'd see much saving. Also got a feeling most are going to wait till black Friday to pull the trigger on their rigs, I risk being on the wrong side of the waiting list on the pre-order parts.

Thanks for the help (y)

Update, I've pulled the trigger on this last Friday (I went for the luxury move with the 500gb boot drive and 2nd 1TB drive). I've managed to get an additional 100-200 budget. If I was to amend the order, what would you recommend be worth upgrading? MOBO? CPU from 5800x to 5900x, 16gb ram to 32gb ram? Better storage?

I don't have to improve anything, but would rather make sure I get the best out of it as I can before production (I've ruled out going from a 3070 to a 3080 GPU due to wait times)

If you upgraded the CPU, you'd have to up the motherboard too. Have you picked a monitor yet? It might be worth pushing the extra funds in that direction.

I'm no expert here, and would love to have someone experienced correct me. However, I feel you might see a benefit from upgrading to the 3900x, considering the multi-core strength and the savings of £1 . But please ignore this if it wouldn't strengthen the PC.

Probably best leave it alone, it will probably do more then what I ask it to anyway as it is. Got the Dell s2721dgf on order (£300), which is a great price but alot there's a big back log in production. So might see what crops up next week in the sale. Need to get a mouse and keyboard, so might get something more top end in that department.

I’ve just done the maths, taking the CPU up to the 5900X and the motherboard to the ROG Strix X570 is £142.

That’s a quality upgrade for the price. If you’ve got the extra funds, go for it! 👍

Doesn't fit, case only takes 240mm fans, not 280mm. It'll be alright, won't be pushing it to its limits 95% of the time, it would only be when I process renders, or 3D point cloud models, which will be once a month max.
If the Corsair 680X or 500D SE come back into stock, they definitely accommodate it.

It’ll definitely be okay with the H100i, it’d have just been the cherry on top if we could’ve got the H115i in there 😆
