Downgrading but keeping high performance for future purchase of 30 series card

Hi all.
I'm kind of at a point where I need the PC and can't wait until march/april for stock to finally get into PCS.
I have amended the order twice after reading some of the suggestions I've had on here and elsewhere from friends, I'm looking to take the 3060ti off and spend the budget elsewhere to just increase the overall system so I can maybe find a 3080 (later down the line). I'm not really spoilt for choice on it but I can make a crazy system and add the mental cards when stock gets better.

I'd like to maybe increase the cpu and cooling for the cpu, maybe increase the overall memory situation as well if people can help thats great. Open to any and all suggestions.

This is the specs I've already upgraded for reference

Hey @SillyDrizzle Few questions, what will the PC be used for? If it's gaming, what games will you be playing? What's the maximum you'd like to spend and what's the monitor you'll be using with this PC?

So if you are taking the 3060Ti off what card are you going to replace it with for now?
Money saved could up the CPU to the 5600X, and if budget allows I'd up the PSU to an 850w RMx, cooler wise go for the liquid lite 240

Samsung LC27JG56QQUXEN 27" Curved Gaming Monitor - WQHD 2560x1440, 144Hz, Freesync, 2x HDMI, DisplayPort, Dark Silver

Is the monitor and I'm not too sure on games, maybe call of duty but the minimum requirements are the 1650 but thats not great at the moment. Just at a point where I cant wait another month and a half for the system as I am studying as well and the system I currently use is fried, completely. Just need the system now and not fused about the card anymore. Just need the system to study more than anything, but games cod (as stated above), wow, minecraft and just about anything really.

This is the spec I'd go for if you plan to spend the money saved on the GPU elsewhere in the system. I've put a 1650 in for now which would be enough for some more basic games while you wait for the market to settle, you could also buy a used card but it seems demand has screwed the price of those too. I also find your storage choices a little odd (and haven't edited them), would you be able to explain the reasons behind them?

For that monitor, a 3060TI would be fine and a 3070 would be perfectly good, a 3080 would be overkill unless you plan to game in 4K

Storage wise I'm still figuring out but changed away from a hdd due to speeds and such but overall as much as possible to store a large steam libary and run the games as fast as possible and the ssd for the os is what i planned for anyways. Suggestions are welcome on that front as well

What I normally suggest is an M.2 for Windows OS, a 2nd M.2 for games and programs and a 2TB hard drive for file storage.

For your system I'd go for a
500GB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD for Windows
2TB M.2 PICe 3.0 for Games and programs
And a 2TB HDD for general files

To keep the game library as an M.2, the largest you can go for is 2TB (as I've selected), does this sound like enough? If not you could change to a slower but higher capacity 2.5 inch SSD

Ok i've tweaked the Build that @JUNI0R did, I've upped the memory to 3600MHz and changed the storage so you've got the samsung for OS, the HDD for general files, then a 1TB PCS M.2 for games

Just made the same changes to the drives 😆 I instead went for a 2TB Samsung SSD instead of the 1TB PCS SSD considering the storage OP originally put in

Thanks guys! Shame to leave the 3060ti but will happily recieve the system sooner and with higher base specs other than the gpu, but i can easily upgrade the system now to a more powerful card while enjoying the system sooner! Thanks for the help!

SSD is so slow compared to M.2 though and if start filling that to over capacity, just remove games that aren't being played, I've got a 1TB PCS M.2 for my games drive and its only about half full

*The 2TB 970 Evo M.2 SSD, should be perfectly fast. And yeah good point about removing games, it's not something I was thinking about while speccing!

ah, you just called it a 2TB SSD in your post not a 2TB M.2 SSD
