Hey, on the verge of pulling the trigger :¬) Use will mostly be gaming and some 3d work (UE4, Maya etc). I am looking for quiet for the case (and want something minimal, rather than bling).

Budget was £1500 ¬¬

if you can find the budget I'd up the PSU to the 850 to give you some upgrade headroom in the years to come, if you can't stretch that far I'd say go to at least 650

As you were already over budget I changed the case down to a Cooler Master Silencio S600 which saved a huge chunk of change and keeps the minimal look. I then upgraded the RAM to 3200MHz which will work better with AMD and upped the PSU to a 750 WATT and added the silver warranty for a fiver

You can save a little on the motherboard: the Strix model isn't necessary for the 5600X. I'd then spend the savings, as @Martinr36 says, on the PSU and, if you can afford it, on going up to the 500GB SSD. 250GB is not huge and will fill up very quickly. I'd want a second M.2 SSD, to be honest, but that's a very easy upgrade later. Speed up the RAM to 3200MHz as well, and this is a massively better system for just under £100 more than what you posted...

Here I think we have the case of three variables that OP has requested: a good build, a quiet build and a build in budget. As in most cases we can only satisfy two of the three variables we have been given.
It's your build, so only you can let us know what variable you don't want to prioritise, but remember that a short term saving can often cost more in the long term, as saving a bit on a component now might mean you need to replace it fully down the line, and at that point you might as well buy that replacement component now. The above build by @sck451, while over budget will handle all your needs comfortably.
The other alternative you have is to wait a few months, as by the start of summer production should hopefully be returning to more normal levels, supply should increase and prices should decrease accordingly. Then we can get even more out of your budget.
Ultimately though, it's your choice, our job is to advise.

I've gone with a single higher capacity M.2 drive, as someone pointed out, it will be easy to add another if need be further down the line. Had a few more options with the case now, and went with FD in the end. Over budget of course, but you can't have everything, and what else am I going to spend it on at the moment ?

Now I just have to wait ... :¬)

The RMx is generally considered a higher quality PSU, and there was some issues with the TXm PSU's a while ago


It's also fully modular compared to semi modular
