Buyers remorse?

Hey guys,

I'm currently on day 11 of pre-production for the following gaming build.
Starting to have second thoughts on my choices and would like to ask you guys for your opinion, please.

Currently have a Dell P2721Q - 4k monitor 60hz
(Not ideal for gaming, but it's a first gaming PC and I'll upgrade the screen in the months to come to something more fitting for a 3070ti.)

I have two things I would really like to hear your thoughts on. (Obviously, if you have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them)

1. CPU - 3700x vs 5800x vs 5600x (paired with 3070ti)
2. Wifi/Motherboard - For the first few months I'll be needing to use wifi, have a 500mbps connection.
- Should I go with an external wifi card as listed in the spec, and a non-wifi motherboard? or change to b550 plus wifi.

5600x is just so good defo worth getting.

In regards to wifi id avoid it tbh. especially for online gaming. Have you ever tried power adapters?

Hi there! Before we give any advice, we'll need some more info

1) Budget- How much are you looking to spend?
2) Uses- You've mentioned gaming, what sort of games will you be playing? Will you be doing anything else with the PC?

Also as the title is "buyers remorse" I thought I'd let you know that you don't need to cancel your order to make changes, PCS allows you to amend the order without losing your place in the queue, so you can be happy and not lose out on any of that sweet gaming time!

Hi!
Thanks for taking the time to help.

Budget - I'd like to stay somewhere between 1700-2000.
Games- Going to try some of the new shooters coming up, Call of duty, Battlefield, and older games such as Diablo2 Remastered, Starcraft 2.
Uses - Casual gaming, combined with my very competitive nature ; also some minimal photoshop work.

Buyers remorse - Yeah, I figured out I can change spec as many times as I want as long as I'm still in pre-production. I'm just constantly second-guessing my choices. It's my first gaming PC after 10+ years of being on Apple MacBook Pros, and I'd finally like to be able to try various types of games.

As @JUNI0R says it helps to know your budget, purpose and what monitor you plan to pair it with (i.e. are you keeping the Dell 27 4K, replacing it or adding to it etc).

Even without those bits of info though, your build is sub-optimal. The 8 core 3700X CPU is outperformed by the 5600X by 15-20% in single core terms and it's a basically a wash in multi-core terms. Given the 5600X is current generation vs. 3700X being prior gen, there is no downside to switching to the 5600X. It even saves you £20!

With a 5600X, you probably could downgrade to a B550 board (say the TUF B550 Wifi if you wish). This does drop PCIe4 compatability from one of the two M2, but you've only selected PCIe3 drives anyway. Also with a 5600X you don't need such an expensive cooler etc. So you could definately do a cheaper build with a 5600X.

Thanks for the info @BeastyTW! Very nice build from Martin above although feel you could definetly save in a few areas if you wanted to

Regarding monitors, you mentioned you plan to change after a while, for the 3070TI, it's a bit of a beast so I'd personally recommend a 1440p ultrawide like the AOC CU34G2X. It'll be one fantastic experience and smooth as butter with a 70TI!

Case

Oh i'll happily admit I was aiming top end, but yeah wholeheartedly agree on monitor, Ultrawide is definitely the way to go for 3070 Ti
