A New Gaming PC

Hello

I am planning to get a new Gaming PC with a GTX 1070 and 27 inch monitor. I have decided after using an iMac for 3 years I think it's time to go back to a gaming PC as the AMD Radeon graphics cards make it overheat on the Windows partition.

So I am now going back to custom gaming towers and I have specked up a new PC for my bedroom. What do you guys think of this?

I'm also planned to be using Unity on this and screen recording gameplay so I think Windows 7 will be better for screen recording modern games like Oddworld New 'n' Tasty and the upcoming Soulstorm for 2018.

What's your budget / how much did that come to?

Windows 7 doesn't fully support newer gens of hardware. Also Microsoft will stop releasing updates for it in a bit over 2 years. You should strongly consider Windows 10. It shouldn't make a difference for recording gameplay.

Also, are you looking to record your gameplay, or to stream it live to the internet?

My budget is up to £2000 including monitor and keyboard/mouse and yes I’m planned for recording on disk and streaminng.

This is super expensive and not really worth it for gaming. Also you're probably better off with an SSD + HDD, rather than just HDD plus Optane.

Memory (RAM)
16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 2666MHz (2 x 8GB)
For this budget you may as well go straight for the 3200MHz stuff.

The -k is faster out of the box and can also be pre-overclocked by PC Specialist

You can use a free one like Avast.

For this budget and kind of spec, you'd really be looking at a 1440p monitor, rather than 1080p. That should be easily doable for the remaining ~£280
