I believe this will give you better performance and more ability to upgrade for only £30 extra.
I will put comments next to items below
This system would give good results with a 1080p monitor at 144 / 165Hz
You would need to spend a bit more on the GPU if you are going to use a 1440p monitor which is well worth it if you can spare the money.

Case
LIAN LI LANCOOL 215 GAMING CASE (The case you selected is quite expensive for an entry level system and the money would be better spent elsewhere)
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 5 5600 Six Core CPU (3.5GHz-4.4GHz/35MB CACHE/AM4) (You don't need in build graphics as you have a GPU and the extra cache will help with gaming)
Motherboard
ASUS® TUF GAMING B550-PLUS (DDR4, USB 3.2, 6Gb/s) - ARGB Ready!
(Much better quality motherboard, well worth the extra)
Memory (RAM)
16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 8GB)
Graphics Card
8GB AMD RADEON™ RX 6600 - HDMI, DP - DX® 12 (I believe this probably provides better value for money)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
512GB INTEL® 670p M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 3000MB/sR, 1600MB/sW) (the 970 will do the job but is a bit small and this is better value and will work fine as a boot drive with a few programs)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB PCS PCIe M.2 SSD (2200 MB/R, 1500 MB/W) (you have not selected a second drive, where are you going to store any games files etc?)
Power Supply
CORSAIR 750W RMx SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET (Probably the most important change 450W will likely throttle performance at times will be very noisy and wont be as reliable, PSUs are tricky to change and this gives a small amount of space for an upgrade in the future)
Power Cable
1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)
Processor Cooling
STANDARD AMD CPU COOLER (should be ok as the case has good airflow but if you go for a better GPU you will probably need a better cooler to match)
Thermal Paste
STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING
Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Card
10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT
Wireless Network Card
WIRELESS INTEL® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 2,400Mbps/5GHz, 300Mbps/2.4GHz PCI-E CARD + BT 5.0 - The card you selected is out of date and will be slower

When you say light gaming, what kind of games are you talking about? Is work just stuff like MS Office?
Do you have a budget limit, and do you have an existing system you will be retiring?

What monitor are you going to be using?

I will most likely play games like modded minecraft (cpu intensive) and apex from time to time. Will have a 75hz or above monitor. I have a budget of £1300 at max. I currently play on a laptop which has ryzen 5 3600h 8gb ram and intergrated graphics. It can run basic programs and minecraft at 30fps so an upgrade would be nice for home. The work will include MC office and other light work programs.

£1300 is pretty much going to mean 1080p, you're looking at very low-end in terms of build but also monitor requirements if 1080p 75Hz... even the 6600 is an still a bit of an overshoot really at that spec of monitor.

If I played with the above spec I get something like this, although i'm still not convinced...

AMD Ryzen 5 5600 Six Core CPU (3.5GHz-4.4GHz/35MB CACHE/AM4)

Graphics Card
8GB AMD RADEON™ RX 6600 - HDMI, DP - DX® 12 I think its a slight overshoot on 1080p 75Hz still... but 6500XT is -really- budget and not stocking the 1650 Super

Do you have an existing system? So a copy of windows that can be transferred?

The other option, and to be truthful the better option (by quite a bit in my mind) is to wait a few months for the new release stuff and save up some more money, youd end up with a much better system, less bits that could do with an upgrade and probably look at a 1440p system if you could push the budget more.

£1300 is a tight budget, and would mean a lot of sacrifices, to build a custom gaming rig with real lifespan/upgrade path it really does require that initial investment, and then its just a case of GPU upgrades every 3 years or so to keep it current....so much cheaper over 10 years, but more expensive upfront.

Whats the config link and price?

I have to be honest, its not a build I would be comfortable with, 650W CV series PSU would have to be replaced the moment you changed the GPU and would need completely removing its not modular, old WiFi card and i'd be a bit twitchy about using a Prime motherboard.
75Hz was also mentioned for the monitor, I dont think you need the 6600XT to run that its bottom rung 1080p

To me, its a dead end build and youd end uyp replacing the entire thing in a few years....which is the opposite point of a custom build.
I think the best choice is to wait till autumn and save up more, or just buy off the shelf.

The motherboard is good for another generation of Intel processor and a 650w power supply is going to be fine for quite a while.

Although I don't particularly agree with your power supply assessment I don't have alot of knowledge of any particular problems with the B660 chipset so I'll take your word that it's no good.

I certainly don't agree with the power supply being underpowered in the future , I know for a fact my 5950X and 6900XT has never been past about 600 watts so I think it would be fine , GPU makers always over recommend on the PSU because there's alot of dodgy power supplies out there , Corsair are generally seasonic copy's and have a pritty good reputation.

However to give a little more leeway for the future I have went with the 750w TXm which I know is a good power supply for the money.

The reason for switching to alder lake is it's just a better gaming CPU than Ryzen can offer at the moment.

The 750w RMx is only £4 more than the TxM so worth going for that, especially given it is more efficient.

Personally, I wouldn't put an Intel chip on a PCS cooler in the 175R...it's too closed off for a gaming machine

@ThatBarney I would second holding off till later in the year as new hardware coming means better performance...however, it would also mean a drop in price for this gen components so you could potentially get more for the same money. If you need to buy now, I'd go with the spec that @Aza posted before...it's the best balance of now performance with future upgradeability. Personally, I'd swap the stock cooler for the Coolermaster Hyper 212....whilst I don't have experience of the cooler on current gen Ryzens, the stock cooler on the previous gen (3600 in my case) is a tad loud
Thanks for all the input and advice

£1500 +- £50 budget.
I will use this for 1080p gaming for games like apex and minecraft. I will also do light CAD for school.
