Struggling to remove RAM sticks

Hi all, I spoke to PC Specialist about an issue with my three month old gaming pc. Problem was narrowed down to the memory being faulty. I offered to bring the machine in to get them replaced (I only live down the road) but was told I'd have to leave it there for 1-2 weeks. So have opted instead to have DPD deliver me new RAM sticks and I'd have to remove the old ones and fit them myself.

Trouble is I've not done anything like this for about 20 years. I've got the side case off and located the two RAM sticks but I can't pull them out. Everything online suggests there should be clips at the side but I can't see/feel them and I don't want to break anything trying to yank them out.

Any suggestions?

It's the tabs at each end of the DIMM slot, normally press it towards the board to release it. Shouldn't require much force.

Can be fiddly to get at if it's a small motherboard in a small case with an AIO blocking access.

I usually use a small plastic tool from my iFixIt toolkit for this.

I've tried pushing away from the RAM stick, towards the RAM stick and 'down' towards where it slots in. Nothing budges. Then tried a small screwdriver instead and without much force, one of the little plastic end pieces at the side snapped off. RAM still firmly in place. :(

It's not that end that moves, it's the other end. By the looks of it, you will need to remove the AIO radiator that's blocking the access.

You could probably get your hand in there, but if you're not comfortable it would be better to remove the assy for easy access.

Thank you! I hadn't even seen the clips on the other side but I was just about able to reach under the AIO and flick the clip away and pull the first one out - I then made sure I was able to put it back in (which was nearly as fiddly!) .

Now I know I can actually do the swap which I was starting to doubt so you have potentially saved me having to wait 2 weeks by sending the whole thing back. Now to see if and when DPD turn up and fingers crossed it solves my issue.
