CPU Cooling - Water or Fan?

Looking to buy this pc, the water cooler or fan is roughly the same price, this was a prebuilt with the fan as default but I changed to water cooling, is it worth changing or should I change back to fan???

If you have a read of the note/advice in the thread below (e.g. budget, monitor specs/model, usage, etc.), I'm sure someone will offer their assistance.

But I don't think I'll put anyone's nose out of joint by stating that they'll probably recommend a few changes (especially to a current gen AMD CPU on a new platform vs an old Intel CPU on a dead platform).

I don't think anyone would recommend an Intel build these days, aside from being beaten for less price by AMD, they run crazy hot to the point the chips actually warp and the solution to stop this has been banned by Intel and will void warranty.

And that CPU chipset is several years out of date now anyway, but it looks like Intel may be forced to either issue a recall for millions of current and last gen chips, or severely throttle their performance by limiting voltages and clocks to avoid silicon meltdown.

Are you sure that's correct? Could we have the model? I've never heard of a 120Hz gaming display at 1440p?

Without knowing the monitor we can't really advise? Just need to be certain of the monitors capabilities, as if it's an old TN panel or doesn't have VRR, then we may need to factor in a suitable decent monitor, otherwise no matter what PC you buy, the output is all done by the monitor, so that would be a bottleneck possibly.

Yeah I got a bit trigger happy, I can push to £1500 if it makes a big difference.
Cool, thanks, sorry, but we need this upfront otherwise it tends to be quite a back and forth process.

This is where I'd land, prices are still crazy and this is already making sacrifices on the GPU and CPU more than I'd like, ideally it would be the 7800X3D along with the 7800XT GPU. I've left out a secondary SSD which I would suggest picking up one dedicated for games but that's really simple to do yourself when you have the cash, I'd suggest something like the P41 2Tb would be ideal and they're not expensive, or if you want a solid budget option, the Crucial P3 2Tb is quite a bit cheaper and very reliable. Without doing that I couldn't get it in budget. But this is a good all rounder and gives you upgrade paths on the CPU and GPU pretty much as high as you want to go so will last a long time

That will at least get you started, you'll have space for a couple of games on the main SSD until you can get a secondary dedicated drive for games.

But it's a solid build with loads of upgrade potential.
