PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST GPU Fan Rubbing and Grinding

Thank you. I'll give them a look. BTW when I asked if the fans were of the same stock what I wanted to say was if the two fans in the laptop were the same as each other. If that was the case I could check the product number of the easier fan to get to knowing a similar fan could be used to...

Next problem's the fan. I'll deal with it when I get to it. Saying that are the two fans generally of the same stock?

Time to break out the thermals then. I wonder if my nephew has any otherwise it's a trip up the amazon. Any suggestion on a good approach to avoid cannaballism (of the laptop)?

Not handily, no. Best I can describe (with base removed and Laptop upside down) are two fans near rear of machine, left one (faulty) has a copper hood screwed to top of fan with heat sink tubing formed as part of the hood leading across the motherboard to the other side of the laptop...

I had another look. One fan I can get to fine, but it was working ok. The one causing issue has the copper plate screwed to the top, but it's sealed to the copper piping which seems pasted to the rest of the rig, making getting at the noisy fan a problem.

OK! I've work to do :) I dropped an email to the tech team so will follow up on parts. In the mean time will I need to unscrew the motherboard to get to the underside of the fans or is it possible to take the two fans off with the copper tubes in tact without bothering the boards?

Really? So both fans are part of the chassis? That said then is it possible to unscrew the pcb to gain better access as both fans are connected via heat tubes (sealed). I'd like to do as much work myself given warrenty is effectively expired.

I've an RTX 2060 Optimus Laptop that's now about 2 year old. The gpu fan is rubbing and grinding. I've had the case open to try and clean the innards but even after blowing air through the fan there seems an imbalance. It isn't too bad at higher speeds when it gets there but squeals and stutters...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Payment Blocking

Well here's hoping it was a one off, but I'm still suspicious as I've had two versions of a story. Both make some sense, but working in benefits you develop a cynicism. I'm aware that credit is deemed safer, but I deal with my own money as I refuse to have unnecessary debt. I'm also aware that...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Payment Blocking

Great to have the option, but I'm a simple man (never used a credit card (starting to sound wierd now :) )) Seriously though the whole experience has left me at odds as the last laptop I bought (the one I'm using) was over a grand about 7 years ago iirc (it's an alien m14x) and I never had a...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Payment Blocking

I did discuss it with my bank and I've just bought an optimus x with 8 gb of ram, with the view to upgrade at a later date. What I was told by the bank was that sometimes the seller will ask for the authorisation which sometimes causes the block. It was brought to my attention when the operator...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Payment Blocking

Simple question, but is it routine to block authorisation of any sale until the go ahead is given by the customer to their bank? Is this something done on the sale of ram or just the computers?
