PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST USB-C Hub, external monitor

Whilst I agree PCS could add clarity by saying 'USB-C data transfer only' in detailed specs to remove any ambiguity, or perhaps use the varying USB-C icons, you did make an assumption about how USB-C works. It's not PCS job to explain how the tech actually works in all fairness. I think you...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST USB-C Hub, external monitor

I think the lesson here is 'assumption is the mother of all..ups'. Got to do your research before you buy anything, whether a laptop or adapter. At least it's a business expense and not a personal one.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Should I get the Vortex or the Proteus?

Mine hasn't arrived yet :) Depends. It's thin with powerful hardware. If you want to play current AAA games the CPU will get to 90 (see youtube). You can adjust the fan curve, but if you expect to play AAA on quiet on a laptop.. better off getting a desktop.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST [Updated: I am] Any owners of the 15.6" VYPER II?

Excellent - decided to pull the trigger and purchase the Vyper II too. Looking forward to having a dual screen setup for myself and not just at work :)

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Should I get the Vortex or the Proteus?

The new Vyper II is ridiculously light as it's all magnesium alloy. It doesn't make this obvious on the sales page but the barebones chasis selling point is it's one of the lightest on the market. More expensive but could be better for portability?

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Environmental documentaries or films

99% can still be wrong though. Evidence should speak for itself, not be clouded by consensus thinking and weighed according to our own bias. Too much politics in science and it becomes semi-religious :/

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Environmental documentaries or films

Are there any decent documentaries coming from the opposing position of anthropogenic climate change is exaggerated/incorrect? I think there was a channel 4 one, 'the big swindle' or something? I haven't watched any beyond 10 minutes because they all seem to get too hysterical.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST USB-C Hub, external monitor

To avoid confusion I think it should state 'data transfer only' in detailed specs, and in the '?' by the usb ports section it should break it down a bit. I almost got caught out and not all the laptop images show the port icons clearly.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST USB-C Hub, external monitor

Now I'm confused  So why are there USB C ports with the DP icon? Or Thunderbolt Icon? My impression is that not all USB C ports can output video signal (or thunderbolt, power) and that it depends on the port/hardware on a particular device and not the bandwidth potential of USB C...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST USB-C Hub, external monitor

Your link and quoted text states that you 'need to confirm the port is capable'. Their writing sucks though, it should read "Modern USB Connections using the USB..". The connection type of USB C is potentially capable of doing display, power, thunderbolt.. but it depends on the particular port...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST USB-C Hub, external monitor

I do think the shop should more clearly indicate the port capability for the USB connections, given the variance of capability. Some of the sales images you can make out the port icons, others are too dark too.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST USB-C Hub, external monitor

It's a bit confusing if you've been out of the loop, I almost made the mistake too. USB-C is just the 'connector type' (vs USB 1, 2, 3), the shape of the connector itself. The capability of the port itself depends on the machine - some have icons next to the port to indicate its capability, such...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST The first Vyper II on the forums

True. It's not a deal breaker, the PCS logo is the more stylish of the ones I've seen on laptops. Just from a marketing perspective I think it actually makes more sense to leave it off. There's lots of people who want a discrete looking laptop - see the youtube comments for the review of this...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST The first Vyper II on the forums

Is the PCS logo on the lid removable or is it etched on? It doesn't appear on the images on the sales page, and was one of the positives of the strong, sleek looking design. Please tell me it's just a plastic covering..

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST External screen advice

It would be handy to know this information across all the laptop range, as this is a main driver in my current hunt for a laptop at the moment. Assuming a laptop has two outputs, it's fair to assume it can do dual monitor? Currently awaiting some reviews and feedback on the Vyper II because it...
