I was looking to purchase this PC but the detail on spec is limited.

Could anyone help me with exactly which mobo/gfx/psu/SSD etc is in this machine pls?

The link is here, https://www.very.co.uk/pc-specialis...391355.prd?amendCommerceItemId=ci258666001235

As Nursemorph said its the X470-Plus Gaming Mobo. The full specs are;

This for the replies folks, it's as I feared.

I was hoping against hope that the specs might be a bit more aligned with what PCS would normally sell for £2800 - like you say, very.co.uk want their cut.

The thing is, with staff discount, I could get it for just under £2000 but it probably still doesn't make sense for me to buy a PC with 3900x and 2080ti if the rest of the specs are decidedly average. I want this to be a PC that lasts me 6-7 years or more and so want it to be the best it can be, within reason.

Good advice on the other system, thanks 👍

The PC will be for general use and gaming on mainly FPS.

I was thinking a monitor like this would be the one I'd go for, basically 1440p at 144hz. Only because I know that affordable 4k with high refresh is still a while away. I'm also thinking I should wait 12 months for affordable 4k high refresh monitors and 'big navi' etc? I'm not a huge gamer and I have money but not enough to be an early adopter.

Essentially, I don't think I want to be turning settings down in 4 years time or regret pulling the trigger a bit early when 4k is just an inch away.

Hi Folks, I'm going to pull the trigger on this PC Specialist PC from very - a family member gets healthy discount otherwise I'd order direct and spec it with faster ram, faster drive and x570 chipset.

I'm torn between the Predator X34P or the Alienware AW3420DW. There is about a £300 difference between the two.

Basically, do you think the Alienware is worth £300 more and will my rig be able to run AAA FPS at 1440p, 120hz?

Thanks for any shared opinions because I'm going bog eyes staring at specs! :)

IMHO Alienware are really overpriced and tend to have a lot of quality issues.

If it were me, I'd go for the Predator, it's tried and tested and extremely popular for a reason.

Remember, these are 1440p Ultrawides, so it's essentially 4k horizonal and 1440p vertical so it's a lot more than standard 1440p.

But yes, the 2080ti should do justice to it.

Thanks for the response SPYDERTRACKS, I was kind of hoping you were going to tell me what I wanted to hear and that the Alienware was the bees knees :) It has a 3 year advanced replacement warranty and was hoping you'd say it was worth it.

I was going to go for the new 120hz 1440p 49" super ultrawide from Samsung but after a bit of research realised that my framerate would drop through the floor at 7/8ths the pixels of 4k!

Cheers (y)

That monitor with a 2080 Ti should work just fine IMO. It would be stunning and with appropriate settings selected the frame rates should be 60+ at all times I would imagine.

Yeah, I've been looking at it again! It occurred to me that if I want high FPS I can just dial it back to 21:9 for games but switch back to 32:10 to have it operate as two side-by-side 27" 1440p monitors for productivity, which would be perfect.
I was just about to pull the trigger and with an employee discount programme, I was about to get it for about £930 from Samsung direct, with free returns, and saw they were out of stock! Gutted.
