1st Storage Drive
The hard drive is where all the information on your computer is stored.

Our hard drives are branded either Toshiba, Seagate, Hitachi, HGST or Western Digital. Unless the brand is specifically stated, we cannot guarantee which brand of hard drive you will receive in your new computer.

In recent years Solid State Drives (SSD) have also become more popular due to falling prices and increased capacities. Solid State Drives perform much faster than hard drives, use less power, run cooler and quieter, have no moving parts and are therefore more durable and less likely to fail.

To determine what size hard drive you will need, you need to consider how many programs and games you plan to install, along with how much other data, such as music and movies you plan to store.

The technical bit...

Data in volume is called bytes:

1,024 Byte = 1 Kilobyte (KB)
1,024 Kilobyte (KB) = 1 Megabyte (MB)
1,073,741,824 Bytes = 1 Gigabyte (GB)
1 Gigabyte (GB) = 1,024 Megabyte (MB)
1 Terabyte (TB) = 1,024 Gigabyte (GB)

To safely install Windows 10 on your computer you need at least 20 gigabytes (GB) of free space.

Most programs range from 5 to 500 megabytes, but large computer games can take up several gigabytes of space.

RPM

RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) is the speed that your hard drive rotates. The more revolutions per minute a hard drive rotates, the more data it can copy/move within the given period of time. A 7,200rpm hard drive can copy/move data faster than a 5,400rpm hard drive.
