Firewire
Firewire is a PC serial bus interface standard offering high-speed communications. Firewire 400 can transfer data between a computer and its peripherals at 400 Mbps and firewire 800 can transfer data between a computer and its peripherals at 800 Mbps.

Firewire is most commonly used for camcorders and external hard drives. Firewire 400 is faster than USB 2.0 over sustained throughput, but not as fast as USB 3.0. A firewire card is only required if you currently use a firewire device, or you plan to purchase a device that requires firewire in the coming future.
