1st M.2 SSD Drive
M.2 SSDs are the latest advancement in the solid state technology. These use a small form factor card to provide lightening quick read and write speeds without the 2.5” footprint, enabling the user to two data drives without sacrificing the DVDRW in laptops or without sacrificing the SATA ports on a desktop

They are more expensive than a SATA 2.5” SSDs but this is due to the cost of the smaller chips and the manufacturing techniques. The M.2 drives are sold in two different mainstream variants.*

• M.2 PCIe NVMe drives – These are the fastest SSDs currently available on the market reaching read and write speeds up to 2150MB/R and 1500MB/W.**

• M.2 PCIe SATA – These are the cheaper M.2 SSDs and run at similar speeds up to the standard 2.5” SSDs up to 550MB/R and 550MB/W***

* The supported M.2 variant is dependent on the motherboard's interface.
** Individual NVMe M.2 SSD speeds are model specific and the speeds are quoted next to each drive.
*** Individual PCIe SATA M.2 SSD speeds are model specific and the speeds are quoted next to each drive.
