Battery Life

The length of time a battery will operate varies depending on the applications being used (i.e. high end graphics, gaming), the number of times something is saved or retrieved from the storage drive, the amount of memory in the laptop, how many applications are running and also the type of applications running. The more you use the laptop, the lower the battery life will be.

Should I order extra batteries?

If you own a smartphone, you will be familiar with battery degradation which happens over time and depends on usage. The same applies for laptop batteries, so you may wish to consider ordering additional batteries to provide improved battery life at a future date.

Please be mindful that many laptops have integrated batteries, which are not easily detachable. Therefore, when selecting additional batteries you will need to be capable of removing the cover and disconnecting the old battery, connecting the new battery and then replacing the cover. This will require a screwdriver with a very small head.

If your laptop is generally used in or around the home or office, ordering extra batteries may not be a priority. However, if you often take your laptop away, for example on business trips, school trips, on holiday, camping, etc., (and the laptop is supplied with a detachable battery) then a spare battery will allow you to continue using your laptop after a quick exchange of batteries.
