Hi all,

Im looking for some tips to upgrade my current PC which i mostly use for gaming, as its struggling to run some of the newer games on high or better graphics

my current spec is
Asustek H110M-R mortherboard
Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6GB
Intel Core i5-6600 quadcore, 3.30 GHz
Kingston 16GB DDR4
Corsair VS550 power supply
1TB WD Blue SSD

i believe the CPU is my bottleneck however id like a 2nd opinion before i replace it and also looking for advice on a suitable replacement.

budged approx £200-£300

Looking forward to suggestions.

Thanks

Scott

Hi there,

Welcome to the forums. Unfortunately this forum is for support and advice on PC Specialist systems and not for competitor or self builds.

Unless this is a PCS system in which case we would be more than happy to help you and you can access upgrade options in your account?

Otherwise, Toms Hardware is an excellent open forum for independent help with upgrades.

Hi Scott,

It is a PCS system however i cant remember the account i created when purchasing it back in 2016 which is why i created a new one.

I would give them a call and see if they can retrieve your account. Once you log in you will see your 2016 order and which upgrades are available for it :)

Post back with what options PCS can offer and we will see what would be the best bang for your buck :D

ive managed to restore my previous account however when i go to upgrade my existing PC i dont have a section for CPU (or motherboard for that matter)

everything else is already filled in with the correct components

If you can just let us know the specs from your account?

I think you will struggle with a meaningful upgrade from what you have if you want to swap out the board and the chip.

Are you sure it's definitely the CPU at the limit? What resolution are you gaming at?

I don't think motherboards are often upgrade options as they are not straight forward to replace. The 6700k chip, I believe, would slot right in and should be capable of running just about anything with the right GPU.
