I never use my monitor for gaming now apart from Football Manager, I use an Oculus Rift S for gaming on.

Thanks

Ah, ok, just checking regarding gpu. GTX1080 is a little on the edge I find for VR (using mine with a HTC Vive), and I sometimes get motion sickness. The Rift S has slightly increased res, so I think a 2080ti would be a worthwhile investment if you can afford it. You'd easily be able to sell the 1080 on ebay or somewhere, they're very sought after second hand.

My only little niggle with the build is the case, personally, I'd opt for something a bit higher end. That's a fairly entry level case for quite a high end build. BUT, I'm ludicrously over the top when it comes to cases as I take cooling massively seriously and always spend waay too much on a case...

Thanks think I will stick with the RTX 2080ti, which case would you recommend, and do you think the specs are better than my old older specs on my other thread. Thanks

Maybe the CoolerMaster MasterCase H500P, pretty full on on cooling with the front fans (if you like the looks):

The AMD is more future proof and better value, hands down.

The 9900k is the overall king for gaming, but it's only a few fps and not real world noticeable difference.

Plus Intel have been hit with wave after wave of security issues with all their processors since 2011, these flaws have been found in the last 6 months or so, and each time, Microsoft and motherboard partners have to write in mitigations to Windows drivers and motherboard chipset drivers which in turn reduces performance. There will no doubt be more issues found, it's not the end of the road yet. There's a lot of chat that the only way to truly mitigate all the issues on Intel CPU's is to disable Hyperthreading, and if you do that on any Intel chip, performance bottoms out to beyond worthless.

An even better case to consider if you're able to would be the
CORSAIR CRYSTAL SERIES 570X RGB
which is a very capable case, gets pretty much 5 star reviews from everyone.

Thanks for replying, one more question, would it be worth swapping the processor to the 12 core one (I think its the Ryzen 9) and is the motherboard a good one. (sorry two questions)

There's a good comparison video on both the 3700x and the 3900x here:

BUT, imho, if you went for the 3900x it's worth upping the motherboard also as the 3900x really does require a lot more power and the VRM cooling on the more expensive boards is worth it for that chip.

How is this spec (this would be my limit cost wise, any help to get it down to £2500 would be great. Thanks

You could reduce the PSU to 650W
You could reduce the M2 drive to an ADATA without sacrificing any real world performance, that would reduce cost significantly.
Then up the case to the CORSAIR CRYSTAL SERIES 570X RGB on that build, would be worth it.

750w PSU is the RMX. Paired with a 2080ti and a 3900X I think it's a sensible choice also. They use a lot of juice. Even not considering the 100w headroom the RMx is just better all round.

570x is a beauty of a case.

How does the spec below look now, have upgraded case but downgraded M2 drive to a ADATA drive. Will this make much difference?

Before I buy I have few questions about above build. I will only use it for VR (OCULUS RIFT S) on line/off line racing games and a few other VR games.

Regarding the Processor, is the gaming advantage and price £74 worth the difference between Ryzen 9 3600x and the Ryzen 7 3800x (happy to pay difference if worth it).

Regarding Motherboard, again is the gaming advantage and price worth the difference between these three.
Asus ROG STRIX X570-F-Gaming
Asus TUF X570-Plus Gaming (£50.00 cheaper than STRIX)
Gigabyte X570 Gaming (£44.00 cheaper than PLUS and £99.00 cheaper than STRIX).

Regarding Graphics Card. Is the 2080ti's gaming advantage and cost worth it over a 2080 (I don't think I would change it as I think this would last me a few years). Is there any other cards being lined up for the near future I could wait for or just go for it.

Regarding SSD and HDD Drives. I know most used games and OS would go onto SSD. Which drive would you load things like, Oculus, Steam, Logitech Game Controllers, or programs like Crew Chief. (I will have missed a few out).Only need to know as it would make a big difference on the size of a SDD I would need to buy.

Not trying to get the cost of build down, just trying to get a bit value for money.

Looking forward to you replies. Thanks in advance

What's the ballpark budget? Or budget range you're loosely targeting?

again is the gaming advantage and price worth the difference between these three.
If we're talking about the 'gaming advantage' then there is none and you may as well get the X470 motherboard.

A motherboard with USB 3.1 Gen 2 (.. now known as USB 3.2 Gen 2... they keep renaming it to mess with consumers..) could be beneficial for VR due to the higher bandwidth and (I assume) different controller.

Note that despite PCS's listing, the Gaming X does not appear to have 3.2 Gen 2, only 3.1 Gen 1 (which I and probably you know better as plain old "USB 3.0")

So I'd go with the X470, or with the X570-Plus if I wanted USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C as well as Type A and PCIe 4.0. Maybe for a really fast SSD in the future.

Regarding Graphics Card. Is the 2080ti's gaming advantage and cost worth it over a 2080 (I don't think I would change it as I think this would last me a few years). Is there any other cards being lined up for the near future I could wait for or just go for it.
Nvidia have been releasing their "Super" lineup of GPUs which are refreshes of the 2060-2080. 2060 and 2070 came out on 9th July, and I think 2080 Super is 23rd July. So wait and see what that offers I suppose.

I know most used games and OS would go onto SSD. Which drive would you load things like, Oculus, Steam, Logitech Game Controllers, or programs like Crew Chief. (I will have missed a few out).Only need to know as it would make a big difference on the size of a SDD I would need to buy.
If money's not too much of an obstacle, all programs on the SSD.

Regarding the Processor, is the gaming advantage and price £74 worth the difference between Ryzen 9 3600x and the Ryzen 7 3800x (happy to pay difference if worth it).
For gaming, neither would appear to be remotely worth it over the R7 3700x.

If you wanted to drop £500 on a CPU just for gaming, the Intel i9 9900k would be a better choice over the R9 3900x.
