New Spec for VR racing pc

What's the ballpark budget? Or budget range you're loosely targeting?

If we're talking about the 'gaming advantage' then there is none and you may as well get the X470 motherboard.

A motherboard with USB 3.1 Gen 2 (.. now known as USB 3.2 Gen 2... they keep renaming it to mess with consumers..) could be beneficial for VR due to the higher bandwidth and (I assume) different controller.

Note that despite PCS's listing, the Gaming X does not appear to have 3.2 Gen 2, only 3.1 Gen 1 (which I and probably you know better as plain old "USB 3.0")

So I'd go with the X470, or with the X570-Plus if I wanted USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C as well as Type A and PCIe 4.0. Maybe for a really fast SSD in the future.

Nvidia have been releasing their "Super" lineup of GPUs which are refreshes of the 2060-2080. 2060 and 2070 came out on 9th July, and I think 2080 Super is 23rd July. So wait and see what that offers I suppose.

If money's not too much of an obstacle, all programs on the SSD.

For gaming, neither would appear to be remotely worth it over the R7 3700x.

If you wanted to drop £500 on a CPU just for gaming, the Intel i9 9900k would be a better choice over the R9 3900x.

I have put my build on my last post now, as of cost I was happy paying on the above build. I like to build with the future in mind, just had a few things going through my mind.

Do you think the above build is worth it and future proof as possible.
Thanks

My comments all still stand :)

I edited the duplicate text out of the post to help others read the topic more easily, which I hope is alright.

I think it looks very nice :) Suited to you needs, without gross overspends (debates over 2080 ti notwithstanding) Though perhaps some of the VR gamers here may have more to say.

TBH I'd be tempted to suggest you order it without a GPU, if you can't wait to pull the trigger.

The PC's not going to reach you much before 23rd July anyway. And if the RTX 2080 Super closes the distance with the 2080 ti, and comes in not much more than a 2080, that may be the better option. And if it doesn't, you can buy any 2080 ti you like and install it anyway. Either way, you get the PC build order in today, and can start using it at home around the same time, having given yourself more flexibility on the GPU choice.

I might do that as I have a 1080 in my pc now. I will have a think about it as I still think it's a decent buy long term (2080ti)
