Adjust Brightness bar doesn't work

Hi there,

Today I've received my new Nova laptop. So far I'm very happy with the purchase. There's just one problem: The Adjust Brightness bar doesn't work. Therefore, the brightness always stays at the maximum level. I've tried a few things such as uninstalling the driver, reinstalling it, updating it, etc. but nothing seems to work. Maybe you guys have an idea what it could be?

All the best,

Adrian

Yes, I have done both. I installed, uninstalled, reinstalled and updated the NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2070 driver and it still doesn't work. I installed control center too. It's really odd. I assume that there's something wrong with the driver itself as all the other functions seem to work perfectly. I could try to reinstall Windows 10.

I've downloaded now the NVIDIA Studio Driver Version 451.48, but it's still not working. I've been ringing PCSPECIALIST now for 45 minutes, but nobody's picking up the phone.

What exactly do you mean by the "adjust brightness bar"? Can you take a screenshot?

Screenshot attached. It moves around, but it doesn't change the brightness not one bit. When I try to adjust the brightness with the keyboard, another brightness line appears, but it still stays at the same level of brightness, it doesn't matter how much I play around with it.

The GPU driver has no effect on that, it's all down to control center.

Are all your drivers accounted for in device manager?

Where did you source control center?

I've installed control center and all the drivers from the Driver CD that came with the laptop. It should be okay, but for some reason I still can't adjust the brightness. Everything else works flawlessly.

That will be the issue then.

Since there’s been some messing around with drivers, I’d suggest a clean install of windows, then let windows update install all drivers and any updates, then you’ll need to manually install nvidia driver and control center from www.clevo.com.tw. The clevo model number is on a label on the underside of the laptop.

The supplied cd will be out of date. For any up to date drivers you need to go to clevo.

Alright. I will reinstall windows tomorrow. Hopefully that will work. Thanks. The thing is just that I installed the drivers through the CD AFTER I've noticed that the brightness didn't work. I tried out the CD as a last resort when everything else didn't work. But well, tomorrow I'll reinstall everything and let's hope that that will do the trick.

I just received my Nova today, and i'm having exactly the same issue. Tried reinstalling all drivers, didn't work. Our machines should belong to the same batch of production. Let's hope it's not a hardware issue. Did reinstalling windows fixed it for you?

Interesting that you're having the same issue. Thanks for pointing out. I will reinstall windows now and give an update once it's finished. Hopefully that will solve the issue.

Just tried a fresh win 10 installation, then installed control center from clevo, still no luck.
Had you installed GPU drivers? Did you make sure all the drivers and windows updates were installed before installing control center?

Control center is a management driver which means it relies on most drivers being configured correctly first of all before installing it.
