I could be wrong but the only difference I can see between these two pre-built systems is that the x1 has a 2tb hard drive instead of 1tb and that the x1 can be bought for next day delivery as it's on the shelf ready to go. However the ultima r is about £150 less! Am I missing something or is this simply due to a price premium for next day delivery and extra 1tb?

Looking at the two specs it would appear that the only difference (apart from a required trial of Office 365 on the Ultra) they are pretty much identical, so I'd assume the price difference is down to the next day availability and bigger HDD. You'd need to phone PCS to get any more detail than that I'd suggest.

After contacting PC specialist they confirmed that the hdd size was the only difference and the ultra x1 wouldn't or may not come with promotional items which for how much more it is seems bizarre to me. Again it might be a premium price as it is stocked and ready to order and be shipped next day

Ah, Ultra X1 rather than Ultima, my bad! I wish PC would find some new words other than ultra, utlima, vortex, magma, and vulcan
The next day PCs can be more expensive, which I suspect is as you say because they're ready to go. Also they don't automatically carry a discount. Sometimes they're a little less expensive versus a manually configured spec, maybe because the are based on the components having been bought at X price, and prices sometimes rise, which affects the custom specs but not the preset ones.
The specs on the Review page (Ultima R) are all promotional offers with discounts. Sometimes small, sometimes quite large, but the point of them is to be the discounted promotions page.

Yeah when I was on the phone to them the guy on the other end also started getting confused with the names XD really happy I made the choice to go with the ultima r at the heavily discounted price as I don't need it till next Saturday anyway I'm coming from a 650ti so I'm hoping to be blown away!
